Petticoat Tails
The patterns in these peppermint flavored sliced shortbread cookies are made by variously arranging, rolling, and slicing alternately colored sheets. Their name comes from one of the classic shapes for Scottish Shortbread, which was often baked in a large circle that was cut into pointy wedges called "petticoat tails."
